USING THE DASHBOARD
Navigating the Dashboard
The data on this dashboard are organized into three different sections: progress measures, health measures, and social determinants measures. From the home page you can scroll down to view these three different sections. Next to each of these sections are clickable links that will allow you to explore the dashboard further. You can also navigate to these sections through the navigation menu bar at the top of the page.
The video below offers a quick demonstration on how to navigate the dashboard:
Interacting with Graphs
Throughout the dashboard you will find blue “Interact” buttons. Clicking on these will open a new tab with a graph that you can customize based on the demographic information you want to explore. Upon viewing the interactive graph, you can hover over the points on the graph as well as the info icon at the top right to gain additional information. At the bottom right of each of these pages are icons that allow you to share the graph through an embedded code or a link as well as download the graph as an image, PDF, or PowerPoint slide.
Some graphs have entries for both Illinois and Chicago data, indicated by IL or Chi after their titles, while others do not. Most graphs with no jurisdiction in their title will have a jurisdiction selector dropdown on the graph itself above the other graph filters, so you may choose to view Chicago or Illinois data there. Graphs for statewide data include data for Chicago as well.
Dashboard Measures
Progress Measures
This section contains graphs displaying progress towards reaching key GTZ-IL goals and strategies by 2023 and 2030. The 2030 targets for select measures are aligned with national Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) goals. These measures outline the steps involved in achieving improved health outcomes after an HIV or AIDS diagnosis. You can hover your mouse over the points on the graphs and the info icon to gain additional information.
Health Measures
Graphs in the health measures tab present data on the health status of individuals living with HIV. For instance, you will be able to see the number of new HIV diagnoses in Chicago or Illinois overall.
Many of the health measure graphs present the steps of the HIV Care Continuum, which outline the stages that people living with HIV go through to maintain viral suppression. These steps are: diagnosis, linkage to care, receiving or being retained in care, and viral suppression. For more information on the HIV Care Continuum, please see the CDC Care Continuum Factsheet.
Social Determinants of Health Measures
Social determinants of health are social and environmental conditions in the places where people live, learn, work, and play that affect a wide range of health and quality-of-life risks and outcomes. For instance, a measure in this section includes the number of high schoolers who used a condom the last time they engaged in sexual intercourse, which has implications for their sexual and overall health. These measures align with the goals and strategies outlined in the GTZ-IL plan.
